On October 25, 2023, a fatal car accident occurred near the Wisconsin-Illinois state line, claiming the life of 17-year-old Carson Buholzer from Monroe, Wisconsin. He is the seventh person who has died in a car accident in Green County this year, and it’s the third one in the last four days.

The Green County Sheriff’s Office got a call around 3:21 p.m. about a crash with injuries near the intersection of Theiler and Freeport roads in the Town of Jefferson.

The Sheriff’s deputies, Juda Fire Department, and Green County EMS rushed to the location. They found out that a black 2007 Subaru Impreza was going south on Freeport Road. The car couldn’t handle a curve, went into the ditch, and hit a tree.

The car was seriously damaged, the airbags deployed, and it had to be towed away. Unfortunately, a 17-year-old guy from Monroe left us.

Carson Buholzer was a senior at Monroe High School, where he was a member of the football and wrestling teams. He was also involved in various clubs and activities, such as Future Farmers of America, the National Honor Society, and the Student Council.

His teachers and classmates described him as a bright, kind, and respectful young man who had a passion for learning and helping others. He had plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison after graduation and pursue a career in engineering.
