Courtney Perna Biography
Courtney Perna is a Lifestyle Television Host (who recently took home an Emmy Award for Best On-Camera Talent for my role on “Las Vegas NOW.” Yay!)Besides being a Journalist, she is also a Producer with vast experience both in front of and behind the camera, plus proven Social Media Marketing skills. Before her TV Host position on Las Vegas NOW at KLAS, hosted the “The Morning Blend” on WFTX in Fort Myers, FL, and I was a Feature Reporter / Producer/ Fill-in Host in Houston (DMA 8) on “Great Day Houston” (morning talk show on KHOU 11).
However, she not all fun and games, She has also covered hard news as a Live Reporter and Produced the 10 pm weekend newscast at FOX 17 WXMI in Grand Rapids, Michigan. While attending Michigan State University, I started my career as a student reporter for CNN. After graduation, I was a Live News Reporter at WLNS (CBS 6) in Lansing, Michigan, before moving to Las Vegas. There, I produced and/or hosted several TV shows including “Inside Poker” on Fox Sports Net and “Backstage Pass” (nationally syndicated, behind-the-scenes entertainment news show).
As a freelance field producer for E! News, I conducted A-list celebrity interviews, managed on-air talent on location, attended press junkets, and covered red carpet events. While at the Las Vegas Television Network, I single-handedly wrote, produced, created packages for and directed (live-to-tape) a weekly entertainment news broadcast called “It’s Vegas Baby!” My agent, Garry Dinnerman at Beverly Grant & Associates, can be reached at 866-516-3456.
As far as TV production goes, my greatest strengths include: injecting entertainment and fun in “pay-for-play” TV segments, acting as a Talent / Field Producer hybrid and conducting formal or on-the-spot interviews (and making nervous guests feel comfortable!). I’ve also worked in Public Relations and Marketing with a focus on using Social Media to engage and attract potential clients, plus manage brand messages and expand online visibility and reach.

Courtney Perna Early Life
She lived in Las Vegas for nearly a decade before making it full circle and coming back to the city she loved. During that adventure, she hosted “The Morning Blend” in gorgeous Southwest Florida (Naples/Fort Myers area), She was a feature reporter on KHOU 11’s talk show “Great Day Houston.” Before that, she spent two years back home in Michigan covering hard news as a Reporter / Producer for WXMI FOX 17 in Grand Rapids. She also spent time living in L.A. and even Tokyo.
She has worked in many different aspects of TV and entertainment: from being a student reporter for CNN to hosting “Inside Poker” on FOX Sports Net; from performing as an aerial-acrobat and dancer on the Las Vegas Strip to interviewing celebrities on the red carpet as a producer for “E! News.” Outside of work, She is a Glambassador for Glamour magazine, she believes fashion is art, she loves to dance, and you can usually find me either cheering for my alma mater Michigan State University (I love Tom Izzo!) or shopping at the nearest shoe sale.
Courtney Perna Emmy
Known for her fearless appetite to try anything, Courtney Perna is a feature reporter for KHOU 11 News This Morning, and a reporter/producer for KHOU’s talk show “Great Day Houston.”
Before moving to Houston in 2013, Courtney spent two years back home in Michigan covering hard news as a reporter and producer at FOX 17 in Grand Rapids. That’s where she earned an Emmy nomination for an exclusive interview she landed with a semi-truck driver after his rig fell off the highway and onto the streets below. (Courtney was driving behind the truck on her way home from work, and recorded the chaos from her cell phone.) Courtney’s extensive coverage of the “Baby Kate” disappearance and trial in Ludington, MI was featured on the “Dr. Phil Show.”
But Courtney hasn’t always worked in local TV. She spent nearly a decade living in Las Vegas, L.A., and even Tokyo working in many different aspects of entertainment: from being a student reporter for CNN, to hosting “Inside Poker” on FOX Sports Net; from performing as an aerial-acrobat and dancer in Las Vegas shows, to interviewing celebrities on the red carpet as a producer for “E! News.”
Courtney loves testing beauty products as a Glambassador for Glamour magazine, and she serves on the board of directors for a local non-profit called Dance Houston. When she’s not working, you can usually find her either cheering for her alma mater, Michigan State University, or shopping at the nearest shoe sale.
